Answer

You can see if a title has been downloaded correctly to your Kindle by logging into your Amazon account on the Amazon.com Web site.   Click on "Your Account", then click on "Manage Your Kindle".  If your title was downloaded correctly and you want to try delivery to your Kindle again, you can then click on "Actions" and choose "deliver to.." to send it once again to your registered Kindle.

If however, the title you downloaded does not show up in your Kindle account, go back to Overdrive on the Alameda County Library Website and  log into your Overdrive account by typing in your library card number.  Items you have checked out will appear in "My Current Checkouts" and you can click on the "Get for Kindle" link in order to be directed once again to Amazon.com where you can have the title delivered to your Kindle.

Have a look at the Quick Start Guides located in the Overdrive tab on the Library's Web site.  You'll find Guides for the different versions of Kindle on the left hand side of this page.

  1. Thanks. I did as you directed again and when I click on Get for Kindle a new tab opens with a 404 error "We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site."

I've used the Library/Kindle link with a different book last week and had no problem. Any further suggestions?

  2. Is this Kindle Fire, Touch or just Kindle? There are some known issues with Kindle (not Fire/Touch).

Library books require an active Wi-Fi connection for wireless delivery to a Kindle device. Library books will not be delivered via your Kindle's 3G connection.
If you choose to download library books directly on your device, you will have to turn your device off and on for your library books to show up.
If this doesn't do the trick, send library card number/title of book and I will look it up and see if there is anything I can do.
