Are there any materials available to learn Tagalog language of the Philippine Islands
Yes, there are items in the Library that will help you learn Tagalog. Go to the Alameda County Library main catalog page http://alam1.aclibrary.org/. Enter Tagalog in the keyword search box and the first several items that appear on the list will be books and audio CD sets. Click on the items to see full descriptions, and when you find something that fits your needs, hit the request button. Enter your name, library card number and pick up location and you will be notified when the material is ready for pick up.
The Library also offers online language learning programs. From the main page www.aclibrary.org, select Research, then A-Z Resources. Look for Mango Languages on the alphabetical list or Click on the "M" tab to find this. Mango Languages is an interactive language program that includes Tagalog. You will be asked to set up a simple user name and password for Mango, but you will be able to return to the site to pick up where you left off and track your progress. For best results always log on to Mango through the Library's website as described above.
