Q. What is a Lexile? How do I find Lexile rating for a book?

Answer

The Lexile rating is a measurement of reading difficulty for a book based on text complexity (for example, longer sentences) and vocabulary. More information about Lexiles, their correlation with school grade levels, and a searchable database can be found at http://www.lexile.com/fab/

In addition, the Novelist+ and Novelist K-8 databases will also give you the rating for many titles, especially those appropriate for teens and children.

Lexile numbers are found at the very end of our catalog title record under "Reading Level". You can search a range of Lexile numbers also.
