Q. which library is best for genealogy research

I am in town for about 6 weeks and would like to do some genealogy research while here. My grandfather lived in the San Bernardino area in 1917 - 1921 time frame and would like to do research on him in that area. I am not able to drive down there while here. So, I would like to research him while here visiting my son in Newark.

Since San Bernardino is in southern California, Alameda County Library will not have any local history resources for it.

Alameda County Library's genealogy resources are collected here: http://guides.aclibrary.org/genealogy One of the resources, Ancestry, may be accessed only at the library so you would need to come to whichever library is most convenient for you.

If you have access to public transit, Sutro Library in San Francisco has many genealogical resources.
