Q. hoopla says I've reached my check out limit, but I've returned my books!

I had six items checked out at hoopla, but I returned all of them.  Now it says I've reached my limit.  Why?

hoopla is different from our other resources in that the six-item limit is cumulative for the month -- it doesn't matter how many items you have out at any one time.

The way hoopla works is that, when a user checks out an item, the library is charged for that item.  This is an exciting model because it means that we are only charged for what people use!  It also means that, as more and more people use Hoopla, the price to the library goes up.  We limit to six items per month so that everyone gets a chance to check out and enjoy the materials Hoopla offers and we don't go over our budget for that resource.
