Link+ Has Returned!
Effective July 27, 2020, Alameda County Library members can resume using Link+ to borrow items from other Link+ member libraries throughout California and Nevada. Due to the precautions that AC Library and Link+ are taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19, some aspects of the service may work a little differently from what you are used to. Please read our FAQ below for more information.
Why aren't there as many titles to choose from?
Not all Link+ member libraries are able to resume lending just yet, though many have plans to start back up very soon. Expect to see more libraries offering their collections again over the next month. Link+ will be updating this page
as more libraries resume lending.
Will my Link+ requests take longer to arrive?
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will quarantine incoming Link+ items for a period of at least 96 hours before checking them in. This practice is based on the best industry-specific information available to libraries from REALM (REopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums) Project.
We appreciate your patience as we work to provide this service in a way that is safe for both our members and staff.
Will I be able to borrow Link+ items for a longer period of time?
While we are unable to automatically extend Link+ item due dates indefinitely, they can currently be renewed up to five (5) times. This is up from the usual two (2) renewals Link+ typically allows.
With five renewals on a standard 21-day Link+ loan, you could potentially have an item for 126 days before it's due. We will continue to work closely with other Link+ member libraries to adjust loan periods as needed. It's also helpful to remember that Link+ no longer charges overdue fines.
Why is it taking so long for my returned Link+ item to be cleared from my account?
As with items borrowed from the AC Library collection, there may be a delay of up to 10 days before we check in your returned items. In addition, the lending library may also be taking similar precautions before checking in any returned items on their end. If a returned Link+ item has remained on your account without a status change for over 30 days, please contact us.
Am I required to return my Link+ items before the libraries reopen?
As Link+ items don't belong to AC Library, we are requesting that you honor the loan terms provided by the owning libraries and to please return Link+ items by their due date.
